You can use a model to create an item as a preconfigured item. A model represents all the
possible valid configurations for that item
About this task
To use a model to create an item as a preconfigured
item:
Procedure
- From the Primary Information screen corresponding
to the item that you want to create as a preconfigured item, perform
the following steps:
- In the Related Tasks panel,
click Manage Components.
- The Components panel
is displayed. Select the Use Configuration Model radio button.
- Click the Search icon adjacent
the Configuration Model* box to search for the model you want
to use.
- The Configuration Model dialog box is
displayed. In the Model Groups tree, which displays only the
models specific to your locale, navigate to the model that is associated
to the configurable item for which you are defining this preconfiguration,
and click Select.
- The selected model is displayed in the Configuration
Model box.
- Select the Is Pre-Configured check
box.
Note: The Is Pre-Configured check
box is enabled only if you have selected a model in the Configuration
Model dialog box.
- Click Update Configuration.

The Sterling Omni-Configurator dialog box is displayed. Select
the items with the corresponding configurations, and click Save.
The selected items with associated Item ID are displayed in the
Components panel. However, the selected items without an associated Item ID are
considered as item instructions and are not displayed in the Components
panel.
- Click Save.
Note: * indicates that the field is mandatory.
