Basic item search in Sterling Business Center

A basic item search enables you to perform a quick search by specifying basic criteria such as the complete or partial identifier of the item, or the category to which the item is associated.

To perform a basic item search:

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Item Search screen. To navigate to the Item Search screen , perform the following steps:
    1. Log in to Sterling Business Center as an Item Administrator.
    2. The application home page is displayed. Click the Products tab.
    3. From the Products home page, click Find Item in the Catalog dashlet.

      The Item Search screen is displayed.

  2. The Item ID Contains box, enter the complete or partial identifier of the item you want to search for.
  3. In the Is Associated To The Category box, click the Search icon to select the category to which the item is associated.
  4. From the Item Characteristic drop-down list, select the characteristic of the item you want to search for.
  5. In the Item Short Description Contains box, enter either the complete or partial description of the item you want to search for. For example, if the Item Short Description is A flat television panel, you can enter either panel, or television panel, as your search text.
  6. Select the Only include items for which today is within the effective date range check box to include the items for which the current date lies within the effective date range, in the search.
  7. Select the Only include items which belong to my catalog check box to include the items that belong only to your catalog, in the search.
  8. Select the Search only services and service options check box to include services and service options in the item search result.
    Note: This check box is displayed only if you are searching for an item in a pricing context. For example, this check box is available if you are searching for an item from the Price List Search screen, and not from Item Search screen.
    The Item Characteristic drop-down list is dynamically populated depending on the check boxes selected.
  9. Click Search.

    The items matching the search criteria are displayed. However, if there is only one item matching the search criteria, the Primary Information screen is displayed.

    Note: If the administration organization is not an item organization, the items that are available for the item organization of the administration organization are displayed.
