Substituting items

You can substitute items for an existing order line item. For example, if a customer has an item on back order and wants to get another similar item instead of waiting.

To substitute an item, the item must include Supersession associations. You can configure Supersession associations within Applications Manager > Catalog Management. For more information, see Association by item.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Order Hub.
  2. Click Orders from the menu and search for sales order that you want to update.
  3. Select a search result to go to the Order details page.
  4. From the Order details page, you can substitute items in various ways.
    • Select a checkbox next to the order line that you want to substitute and click Substitute item in the table header. You can only substitute one item at a time. If you select multiple items, then the Substitute item option does not appear.
    • Click the overflow menu (Three vertical dots) next to the order line that you want to substitute and click Substitute item.
  5. Specify the Line quantity.
    • Line quantity is the quantity of the original line item that you want to substitute.
    • Associated quantity is the quantity that is configured for the associated item in the Applications Manager. For example, the original item is one 2-litre bottle of water. The associated item can substitute the 2-litre bottle with two 1-litre bottles. In this case, the associated quantity is 2.
  6. Optional: Specify a substitution Reason code and Reason description.
  7. Click Create.
    The Order lines table is updated accordingly.
