Creating a dependency (order line)

You can create a shipping dependency between two or more order lines to indicate whether you want the lines to ship together or deliver together. No shipment or delivery (depending on the relationship type) can be made for any of the lines in the relationship until all lines are available according to its required quantities.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Order Hub.
  2. Click Orders from the menu and search for the order that you want to update.
  3. Select a search result to go to the Order details page.
  4. From the Order details page, select the checkboxes next to the order lines for which you want to create a dependency. You must select more than one order line.
  5. Click Create dependency.
    1. Choose a relationship.
      Ship together
Ship the selected order lines together from the same node and at the same time.
      Deliver together
Deliver the selected order lines to a merge node for consolidation or for extra services. For example, you want a couch and custom cushions to be delivered to a merge node before shipping.
If you select Deliver together, you must also specify the Merge node.
    2. Select a parent order line to create a hierarchy between items.
The parent order line determines the properties that you can modify after you create the dependency.
      • If you selected Ship together, you can modify the parent order line ship node to determine the node to use for shipping. The ship nodes for the dependent order lines are set to read-only and synchronize with the parent order line.
      • You can remove dependent lines from the relationship, but you cannot remove a parent from the relationship. For example, assume you have wood as the parent, and then glue and screws as dependents. You can remove glue and screws from the dependency. You cannot remove wood and keep glue and screws as dependents. If you want a dependency with glue and screws only, remove all dependencies so that the entire dependency is deleted, and then create a dependency between glue and screws.
  6. Click Create.
The page refreshes and the Order lines table displays dependency icons next to the line numbers.
    • Dependency parent icon: Represents a parent order line in a dependency.
    • Dependency child icon: Represents a child order line in a dependency.
  7. To remove a dependency, complete the following steps.
    1. Click a dependency icon next to one of the line numbers.
    2. Select the dependent line that you want to remove and click Remove dependency.
    3. Click Save.
