Upgrading to Release 10.0 - sharded and nonsharded modes

Sterling™ Order Management System Software Release 9.3 (or later) supports both sharded and nonsharded upgrade modes. Sharded upgrade mode upgrades all the shards for all the colonies in a sharded deployment.

Consider the following conditions when choosing an upgrade mode:

• If you are upgrading from a nonsharded environment, you must upgrade in nonsharded mode.

  If you are running a nonsharded deployment but want to enable a sharded environment, you can set up a sharded environment after migrating your data.

• If you are upgrading from a sharded environment, you must upgrade in sharded mode. You cannot upgrade from a sharded environment to a nonsharded environment. Release 9.3 (or later) supports both nonsharded and sharded environments. For more information, see the instructions on upgrading in sharded mode.

  Sharded mode upgrades all colonies in your sharded environment. If you want to upgrade one or more colonies without migrating all colonies, follow the Colony-by-colony upgrade strategy.
