Adding locales

Add new locales to provide translation support for languages other than the ones that OpenPages® supports by default.

Note: You can have up to a total of 20 locales.

Before you begin

Before you add new locales, enable System Admin Mode. Click Open Administration menu

> Enable System Admin Mode. When the dialog box is displayed, click Enable.

About this task

You can select new locales to add from the following list:

Arabic (Saudi Arabia)
Arabic (United Arab Emirates)
Croatian
Czech
Danish
Dutch
Estonian
Finnish
Greek
Indonesian
Korean
Latvian
Malay Latin
Mexican Spanish
Norwegian Nynorsk
Polish
Romanian
Russian
Serbian Latin
Slovenian
Swedish
Thai
Turkish

Note: Arabic (Saudi Arabia) and Arabic (United Arab Emirates) locales use Western Arabic numerals for all numeric data, regardless of the regional preference.

Procedure

Click Open Administration menu > System Configuration > Locales.
Click New locale.
In New locale, select the locale you want to add.
In Copy from locale, select the locale you want to copy the initial strings from for display text.
Click Create.
The creation of a new locale takes a few minutes.
When the new locale is created, it is disabled by default.
After the locale has been successfully created, repeat steps 2 to 5 for each new locale you want to add.

What to do next

After the new locales are added, disable System Admin Mode. Click Open Administration menu

> Disable System Admin Mode. When the dialog box is displayed, click Disable.

To translate the strings for the new locales, use ObjectManager to export the strings, translate the strings in the exported file, and use ObjectManager to import the new translations.
