Policy Management enhancements in 8.3.0

Version 8.3 includes several enhancements to IBM OpenPages® Policy Management (PCM).

New dashboard

PCM includes a new dashboard, PCM Owner Dashboard.

The OpenPages PCM Owner dashboard provides a high-level overview of the various policy activities that might be used by a policy owner or policy manager. A policy owner or manager can use the dashboard to visualize or link to relevant data such as policy tasks, status of policies owned, campaigns for policies owned, or policy planning activities.

A dashboard is displayed in OpenPages. The dashboard has the following panels: My Policy Tasks, Search, My Policies, Reports, PRC Status, and My Favorites.

New workflow

PCM includes a new workflow, Policy Review and Approval. This workflow enables organizations to manage the policy review and approval process through automation.

The Policy Review and Approval workflow addresses the following use cases:

  • New policy creation process
  • Annual policy review process
  • Ad hoc or off-cycle review processes

The workflow is shown in the Workflow Designer. It's a complex workflow with multiple branches: new policies, policies with major changes, policies with minor changes, and policies with no changes.
Stages and example users of the workflow include:

Tip: You can add stages to the workflow for additional approvers.

The ability to leverage the read-only capability at the field level in the workflow or the Policy task view provides a practical alternative to locking all object fields. Previously, PCM used helpers and settings.

New calculation

PCM includes a new calculation, Policy Review Comment.

The calculation populates the Policy Review Comment (PRC) object description with the Policy Name. This provides context to users when they are viewing the PRC object in a list or grid view.

A grid view contains a policy review comment. The Description column displays the name of the review comment's related policy.
