Adding comments to objects

You can add comments to objects in OpenPages® if your administrator enabled commenting, granted you permission, and configured object types to allow comments. For example, you might add a comment on an Issue object to ask a question, share an observation, or note your thoughts about it.

To add a comment to an object, go to the Task or Admin tab and click Comments View comments button to open the Comments panel.

When you create a comment, you can mention other users who might be interested by using the @ symbol. An email containing a link to your comment and a preview is sent to all the users that you mentioned.

You can also edit or delete the comments that you added. If you edit a comment, the label (Edited) appears. If you delete a comment, the panel displays Comment deleted by <username>.

Adding your comments

You can add your comments to objects if your administrator gave you permission to.

Procedure

  1. Click Primary menu Primary menu icon and select the type of object that you want to comment on.
  2. Select the object that you want to comment on.
  3. On the Task or Admin tab, click Comments View comments button.
  4. Click New comment and enter your comment in the text box.
  5. Optional: To notify users of your comment, you can tag them by using the @ symbol and selecting them from a list. Insert the @ symbol followed by a few characters of the user's first name, last name, or username to display the list.
  6. Click Comment.

Results

The comment is displayed with your username.

Editing your comments

You can edit comments that you added to objects.

Procedure

  1. Click Primary menu Primary menu icon and select the type of object.
  2. Select the object that you want to edit the comment for.
  3. On the Task or Admin tab, click Comments View comments button.
  4. Select Edit to edit the comment. Overwrite the comment in the text box.
  5. Optional: To notify users of your comment, you can tag them by using the @ symbol and selecting them from a list. Insert the @ symbol followed by a few characters of their name or username to display the list.

    Emails are not re-sent to users that are already on the list.

  6. Click Save.

Results

The text Edited appears on the comment that you edited.

Deleting your comments

You can delete comments that you added to objects.

Procedure

  1. Click Primary menu Primary menu icon and select the type of object.
  2. Select the object that you want to delete the comment for.
  3. On the Task or Admin tab, click Comments View comments button.
  4. To delete a comment, click More and select Delete.

Results

The comment is replaced by the text Comment deleted by <username>.
