Region Overview workspace
The predefined Region Overview workspace provides detailed information about one of the CICS Transaction Gateway regions running in your site's z/OS® operating system environment.
When you select an OMEGAMON AI for CICS TG region from the Navigator Physical view, the Navigator Physical view entry expands to list the various primary workspaces it defines, and the region overview workspace itself opens. Note that a CICS TG region or address space may either be an instance of the CICS TG Gateway daemon or WebSphere® Application Server for z/OS with the CICS® ECI Resource Adapter deployed.
If the monitored region is a Gateway daemon, the workspace name takes the form
<ctgname>:<smfid>:CICSTG, where ctgname is the
eight character CICS TG region
name and smfid is the four character z/OS
system identifier.
If the monitored region is a WebSphere Application
Server the workspace name takes the form <wasname>:<syid>:CICSTG-WAS, where
wasname is the eight-character WebSphere Application Server region name and syid is the four-character z/OS system identifier.
This workspace contains the following views:
- The Transactions Per Second plot chart displays a plot point every 60 seconds for each active address space identifier (ASID) for the monitored jobname. Plot points represent the average number of completed transactions per second calculated for the previous minute. If no transactions completed during the minute then no plot point is made for that address space on the chart.
- The Average Response time plot chart displays a plot point every 60 seconds for each active address space identifier (ASID) for the monitored jobname. Plot points represent the average length of time transactions have taken to complete calculated for the previous minute. If no transactions completed during the minute then no plot point is made for that address space on the chart.
- The Address Space Overview for
origin nodetable shows details information about the current CICS TG jobname, including a row for each individual WebSphere servant region that share the same jobname. If the monitored region is a Gateway daemon, there will always be a single row in this table. From the Address Space Overview for
origin nodetable, you can link to the Active Transaction Details workspace or Response Time Details workspace, based on Origin Node and ASID.You can also link dynamically to either the OMEGAMON for Mainframe Networks product or the OMEGAMON on z/OS product, provided the target product is both installed and running when the link is invoked.- Within the OMEGAMON for Mainframe Networks product, you can link to the Application Connections workspace.
- Within the OMEGAMON on z/OS
product, you can link to these workspaces:
- Address Space Bottlenecks & Impact Analysis
- Address Space CPU Usage Enclaves
- Address Space Storage for Job
- UNIX™ System Services Processes
The Region Overview workspace is built from attributes in the CICSTG Region Overview attribute group and CICSTG Transaction Response Time Summary attribute group.
