Viewing the Service Level Configuration panel

The Service Level Configuration Main Panel consists of two subpanels and several tabbed panels for service class, workload, service policy, and SLA options.

Subpanels:

  • Choosing Service Policy to Activate. You can choose which inactive service policy you want to activate from the Service Policy list. Then, you can press APPLY and press Enter to save your choice. The default service policy is DFLTSPOL.
  • Service Classes of the service policy that you select. You can see all the service classes of the service policy that you select. If service class contains override goals, its name and goal are highlighted in green color.

Tabbed panels:

  • Service Class. Service Class identifies the transactions that share common response time goals, grouped by transaction IDs, user IDs, VTAM® terminal ID (that is, LU names), or CICS region APPLIDs. A service class is associated with exactly one workload. The Service Class panel displays all the service classes with base goal.
  • Workload. A workload groups one or more service classes that you must monitor as a unit; with it, you can monitor related service classes. In this SLA Workload panel, you can create, update, and delete current workload via take actions.
  • Service Policy. A service policy applies to all service classes defined for your enterprise. Service class goals vary by service policy. Service policies let you override the base response time goals of the service class as dictated by your site's varying requirements. For example, you might have one service policy for prime shift operation, another for nighttime operation, and a third for weekend operation. In the Service Policy panel, you can view, create, activate, and delete service policy via take action commands. The active service policy is highlighted in green color.
  • SLA Options. On the SLA Options panel, you can choose which rule to use and the interval from the rules drop-down box. Select the source of the workload management rules you want to use, either z/OS's native z/OS workload manager or the workload manager provided with OMEGAMON AI for CICS or both.
