Coexistence overview
If you are installing IBM Z OMEGAMON Monitor for z/OS 5.6 or IBM Z OMEGAMON Network Monitor 5.6 with existing installations of OMEGAMON XE for z/OS 5.3 or 5.5 or OMEGAMON XE Mainframe Networks, there are some coexistence considerations to plan for.
To install IBM Z OMEGAMON Monitor for z/OS and/or IBM Z OMEGAMON Network Monitor 5.6:
- Choose your installation path. You can:
- Upgrade in the same SMP/E CSI zone and install over the top of your existing installation.
- Upgrade a "clean" installation in a new SMP/E CSI zone. Install a new sys, new infrastructure, separate hubs, TOMs, and TEPs
- Back up your environments.
- Take your libraries down.
- Perform an SMP/E installation.
- Install the Hub.
- Set up 5.6 installation (HTEMS, TOM, TEP) separate from the existing 5.3 or 5.5 HTEMS and TOM.
- Migrate LPAR by LPAR from 5.5 to 5.6
- Migrate a SYSPLEX at a time from 5.5 to 5.6.
Important: It is recommended to use the new 5.6 tables. If you are upgrading from base
IBM Z OMEGAMON Monitor for z/OS or IBM Z OMEGAMON Network Monitor and you have customized data (situations,
workspaces and queries) or historical data, you will need to recreate your situations using the new
tables listed in Reference: 5.6 base tables that have been replaced in PTFs UJ05168, UJ05169, and UJ05167. If you are migrating
with no custom workspaces or situations, you can upgrade normally.
