Dataset Attribute Group Extract dialog box

You use this dialog box to issue the Dataset Attribute Group Extract command to extract attribute data.

You access this dialog box in the Dataset Actions submenu. This submenu is available in the pop-up menu that you access by right-clicking specific views in a workspace.

The action that you define targets the dataset attribute groups that you select. This panel prepares the output dataset that will contain the extracted data. The dataset will be allocated if it does not exist. The Space Units section initially displays the calculated block size for the output dataset. When you change the Units field to either tracks or cylinders, the Value field will show N/A.

These values are remembered by the application and used when you resubmit the action again (either manually via the Storage Toolkit workspace, or via a schedule or situation). As the contents of an attribute group change over time, the primary and secondary size allocations used in the original action may no longer support extracting the data. This should be taken into account when creating the original action. Consider changing the secondary allocation to accommodate the maximum number of records possible for the attribute group or groups.

To learn about the standard capabilities of a dialog box, see Standard tabs in the dialog boxes of the Storage Toolkit. The topic includes a link to the Reference guides for commands that are used in the Storage Toolkit.

You can also create a custom action. See Create Batch Job dialog box, Issue Command dialog box, and Submit Command or Job dialog box.
