Application monitoring

With the Application Monitoring feature you can get a summary of the performance information for an application.

Perhaps the most effective and efficient way of collecting dataset-level I/O statistics is to forego setting collection options for DASD volumes or groups and instead use the Application Monitoring feature. This allows you to monitor all I/O for a job or started task down to the dataset level. If the datasets move to different volumes, the monitoring moves with them. In this way, you can avoid incurring the CPU overhead of monitoring for a larger group of DASD than is actually required.
