TCP/IP Stack Layers workspace

The TCP/IP Stack Layers workspace displays the performance data for the layers of the TCP/IP stack.

The TCP/IP Stack Layers workspace is displayed by clicking on the TCP/IP Stack Layer Navigator item.

Though the TCP/IP Stack Layers workspace is the default workspace accessed from the Navigator physical tree, right-clicking on the TCP/IP Stack Layers Navigator item causes links to the following workspaces to be displayed.

Note: If the address space being monitored is running on z/OS v1.11 or earlier, the values for these attributes are retrieved using SNMP. If the address space being monitored is running on z/OS v1.12 or later, the values for these attributes are retrieved using the z/OS Communications Server callable network management interface (NMI).

The TCP/IP Stack Layers workspace provides the following views:

  • TCP Sessions: Displays TCP session counts in a line graph.
  • TCP Segment Error Rates: Displays the TCP received segment error rate and the TCP segment retransmission rates in a bar graph, where:
    • Yellow represents TCP Received Segment Error Rate.
    • Blue represents TCP Segment Retransmission Rate.
  • UDP Discard Percentage: Displays in a circular gauge the percentage of UDP datagrams that were undeliverable (including No Port Found errors) and therefore discarded.
  • Input Discard Percentage: Displays in a circular gauge the percentage of IP segments this TCP/IP address space received from the network that were undeliverable and therefore discarded.
  • Output Discard Percentage: Displays in a circular gauge the percentage of all IP output segments sent from this TCP/IP address space to the network that were undeliverable and discarded.
  • TCP/IP Stack Layer Summary table: Provides detailed performance information about the TCP/IP stack layers displayed in the charts on the TCP/IP Stack Layers workspace.
