Interface Statistics workspace

The Interfaces Statistics workspace displays information about the data that flows through Loopback, OSA-Express Queued Direct I/O (QDIO) Ethernet, HiperSockets, and Multipath Channel Point-To-Point (MPCPTP) interfaces and the IP addresses associated with all interfaces on a z/OS® v1.12 or later system.

The statistics that are returned by the request are similar to those in the output of the Netstat DEVLINKS/-d report. Statistics are provided for all strategic interface types except for VIPA interfaces; the stack does not maintain counters for VIPA interfaces.

Note: This workspace returns data only on systems running on z/OS v1.12 or later.

This workspace can be accessed by right-clicking on the Interfaces Navigator item in the Navigation tree and selecting Interface Statistics from the list of available workspaces.

The Interface Statistics workspace provides the following views:

  • Bytes Received and Transmitted: Displays the number of Received Bytes and Transmitted Bytes by the interface name for the current collection. The y-axis is the count of bytes. The x-axis consists of two bars for each defined strategic interface, denoting number of Received Bytes and number of Transmitted Bytes for this interface for the current collection interval. This information is presented in a bar chart where:
    • Yellow represents the number of Received Bytes.
    • Blue represents the number of Transmitted Bytes.
  • Bandwidth Utilization: Displays the percent total bandwidth utilization by interface name for the current collection interval. The y-axis is the percentage. The x-axis consists of one bar for each defined strategic interfaces, denoting the percent total bandwidth utilization for this interface for the current collection interval. This graph is filtered to include only interfaces with bandwidth utilization values greater than zero. This information is presented in a bar chart where:
    • Yellow represents Bandwidth Utilization.
  • interface_name Interface Address Summary table: Displays addressing information about a single interface.
  • Packets Discarded: Displays the percentage of packets discarded by interface name for the current collection interval. The y-axis is the percentage. The x-axis consists of one bar for each defined strategic interface, denoting the percent packets discarded for this interface for the current collection interval. This graph is filtered to include only interfaces with packets discarded values greater than zero. This information is presented in a bar chart where:
    • Yellow represents Percent Packets Discarded.
  • Packets in Error: Displays the percentage of packets in error by interface name for the current collection interval. The y-axis is the percentage. The x-axis consists of one bar for each defined strategic interface, denoting the percent packets in error for this interface for the current collection interval. This graph is filtered to include only interfaces with packets in error values greater than zero. This information is presented in a bar chart where:
    • Yellow represents Percent Packets in Error.
  • Interface Statistics Summary table: Displays information about the data that flows through the following interfaces on a z/OS v1.12 or later system:
    • Loopback
    • OSA-Express Queued Direct I/O (QDIO) Ethernet
    • HiperSockets
    • Multipath Channel Point-To-Point (MPCPTP)
