Agent Status workspace

The Agent Status workspace enables you to verify configuration of the selected IBM® Z OMEGAMON® AI for Networks monitoring agent and to find information about the agent, VTAM(R), and the TCP/IP address spaces on your system that you may need to troubleshoot data collection problems. The data displayed is collected in real time when you navigate to the workspace or refresh the workspace. See the IBM® Z OMEGAMON® AI for Networks: Troubleshooting Guide for more information about how to use the data displayed in this workspace to troubleshoot agent problems.

To display the Agent Status workspace, click the Agent Navigator item for a specified IBM® Z OMEGAMON® AI for Networks monitoring agent.

The Agent Status workspace contains the following views:

  • Agent Status table: Displays configuration and status information for this monitoring agent instance.
    • The Agent User Name and Agent User ID attributes and the Agent Group Name and Agent Group ID attributes can help you determine whether the agent has been authorized to all of the resources required to collect data.
    • The TCP Collection Start Time and SNA Collection Start Times attributes can help you determine if the agent configuration has been changed since the agent was started using z/OS MODIFY commands.
    • The SNMP Parameter Dataset Name attribute tells you what dataset to look in to verify the information used to collect SNMP data.
  • SNA Collector Status table: Displays information about what SNA data is being collected and displays the status of the SNA network management interface and the VTAM resources used to collect the data.
    • The Buffer Pool And VTAM Environment Collection attribute has a value of No whenever the SNA Collection Started indicator in the Agent Status table has a value of No. In this case, the Agent VTAM Application Name and the Agent PMI Exit Name attributes are both blank.
    • If you configured the monitoring agent to collect Buffer Pool And VTAM Environment data and the SNA Collection Started attribute in the Agent Status table has a value of No, it is possible that the agent VTAM application you specified during configuration is not defined to VTAM or that the agent PMI exit is not available to VTAM.
    • The EE, HPR, and CSM Buffer Pool workspaces display SNA data that is collected using the SNAMGMT network monitoring interface (NMI). All NMI data collection is controlled by the TCP data collection interval. When collection is inactive, the data collection indicators show a value of No and the associated intervals show a value of zero (0). When data collection is restarted, the configuration values are restored.
  • TCP Collector Status table: Displays information about what TCP data is being collected for a specified stack.
    • The Host Name, IP Address, SNMP Agent Jobname, and SNMP Agent Port attributes display the information being used by the Mainframe Networks agent to communicate with the z/OS Communications Server SNMP agent daemon to obtain interfaces, gateways and devices, and OSA data.
    • The TCPIP Address Space Status attribute can be used to determine the operational status of the stack.
When collection is inactive, the data collection indicators show a value of No and the associated intervals show a value of zero (0). When data collection is restarted, the configuration values are restored.
