CPU percent critical is the percentage of CPU being used by TCP. High CPU usage is frequently accompanied by a high throughput rate. To determine the source of this problem, use the following steps:

1. Determine if the throughput rate is excessive.
2. Examine the application throughput rates to isolate the source of the high throughput.
3. Look for a high byte rate on a connection to isolate the sorce to individual connections.

Possible solutions include:

• Load balancing applications across multiple OS images
• Terminating connections
• Scheduling work for non-peak hours
• Adding capacity
