Statistical analysis of historical data

To export historical data from the persistent data store for analysis in a spreadsheet or a statistical package, export the short-term history data to sequential data sets.

Both real-time and historical reports are available in the IBM® Z OMEGAMON® AI for Networks product. Users can display historical reports from Tivoli Enterprise Portal and OMEGAMON® Enhanced 3270 user interface workspaces. In addition, you can use Tivoli® Common Reporting to write reports that run directly against the Tivoli Data Warehouse, or use another reporting tool, to identify trends and directions. These reports can be written against the detailed historical data or against daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly summarized data.

Alternatively, administrators can use the older technique of exporting short-term history to flat files and generating reports in their favorite reporting tool. Refer to Conversion process for using delimited flat files in the IBM® Tivoli Monitoring: Administrator's Guide for information on exporting short-term history data.

Managing historical data

The administrator imports the data into an analytical software package and creates reports from that software package.
