Filtering workspace displays

In the enhanced 3270 user interface, you can modify values to filter which TCP/IP or VTAM® started tasks will display data.

All of the workspaces that are accessible from the Enterprise Network Workspace menu have fields in the upper right corner for TCP STC (TCP/IP started task name) or VTAM (VTAM started task name) or Agent (Agent started task name) and SMF ID (system ID) that can be overwritten. When you open a workspace, the TCP STC or VTAM or Agent and SMF ID fields in enterprise-level workspaces both have initial values of "*" to show data from all TCP/IP or VTAM or Agent started tasks on all monitored systems, as shown in Figure 1:

You can modify the values for the TCP STC or VTAM and SMF ID fields and press Enter to filter all views in the workspace so that the data that is retrieved is for a specific TCP/IP STC or VTAM and system ID. You can also use wildcards in the first and or last position of both of the TCP STC or VTAM and SMF ID fields in enterprise level workspaces, as shown in Figure 2, and press Enter to retrieve data from multiple TCP/IP started tasks or VTAM systems. For example, you can specify IP0* for all the systems whose ID begins with "IP0" or you can specify "*P01" to find all the systems whose systems IDs end in "P01, such as AP01, BP01, CP01, and so on.

Once the enterprise level TCP STC or VTAM or Agent and SMF ID filtering context is set, the filter values persist as you navigate among enterprise-level workspaces. The filtering context is also maintained when you navigate to an enterprise-level workspace through the NETMENU, NETWORK, OSA, TCPIP, TCPIPMENU, VTAMMENU, or VTAM commands. The filtering context resets to display all resources in your enterprise when you navigate to a different type of enterprise-level workspace. For example, from TCP STC to VTAM.

When a specific or wildcarded value is specified that does not match any managed systems, a pop-up message indicates that an invalid combination of TCPIP STC or VTAM and SMF ID was specified and the previous values are restored.

Note: When you navigate to an enterprise-level workspace, such as the Command and Response Log workspace, using an action code (other than E) or a Take Action command, the TCP STC or VTAM and SMF ID filter context is set to the values of the selected row.
