Historical data collection and reporting
You can use IBM® Z OMEGAMON® AI for Networks to collect and display data across distinct time periods, called historical reports. Historical reports also enable a capacity planner to identify trends and correct imbalances in network load distribution.
Each workspace displays data in table views. Tivoli® Enterprise Portal workspaces also display data in graphical views. The workspaces initially display the most recent data available. You can switch viewing historical data by clicking the Time Span button in the Tivoli Enterprise Portal or by using the 'H' navigation character in the OMEGAMON® Enhanced 3270 user interface (enhanced 3270UI).
Before you can view historical data, an authorized user must configure historical data collection and collect enough data to support the query that is used. To configure historical data collection in the enhanced 3270UI, use the History Configuration dialog. Select in the enhanced 3270UI. To configure historical data collection in the Tivoli Enterprise Portal, use the History Collection Configuration window.
Historical data is collected on a configured time interval from monitoring agent and is initially stored in the persistent data store (on z/OS® systems) or in files (on distributed systems). This historical data is referred to as "near-term history" in the enhanced 3270UI or as "short-term history" in the Tivoli Enterprise Portal
Long-term historical data is stored in the Tivoli Data Warehouse. On a separate time interval, historical data is retrieved from the monitoring agent or the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server and stored in the Tivoli Data Warehouse.
You can display historical data in Tivoli Enterprise Portal workspaces from both short-term and long-term history. By default, only the most recent 24 hours of data is available from short-term history. To view historical data from before 24 hours ago, you need to change the default or install and configure the Tivoli Data Warehouse and long-term history data collection.
- All Enterprise Networks workspaces (those workspaces that are accessed by the Enterprise_Networks logical Navigator view)
- Active TN3270 Server Session for Select Port
- EE Connection Summary
- FTP Transfer for Session
As a workaround, use a supported physical Navigator workspace to see long-term historical data for the same attribute group. For example, use the physical Connections workspace instead of the new Enterprise Connections Health workspace, or the HPR Connections workspace instead of the Enterprise HPR Connections Overview workspace.
