Collecting queue statistics data

The optional Queue Statistics attributes provide additional current and historical information about message arrival and departure rates, high queue depth, and the time when most recent activity occurred.

This information helps you monitor queue activity, for example, determining whether activity is at expected levels, whether messages are being read from the queues within a reasonable time frame, and whether messages are being put on a queue and not retrieved.

This optional data collection provides additional data in the Queue Statistics and workspaces, additional Queue Statistics attributes for use in situations, and data for the MQSeries_No_Queue_Messages_Read predefined situation. You must enable this optional queue statistics data first, otherwise the value of some attributes is 0.

You can either enable the Reset Queue Statistics command, or use MQI Monitoring for Application Statistics. The recommended method is to use the Reset Queue Statistics command, but if you have other applications that use Reset Queue Statistics, you should not use this command with IBM® MQ Monitoring Agent. Instead, use MQI Monitoring for Application Statistics.
