Migrating the OMEGAMON for IMS Classic profile

The Tivoli Enterprise Portal provides a utility that you can use to migrate your existing IBM® OMEGAMON® profile so that the thresholds in the profile can be used as predefined situations in your monitoring agent.

Before you begin

To access the utility, install the Tivoli Enterprise Portal on your workstation.

Procedure

  1. Using a program that transfers files, transfer the file that contains the profile to the workstation where the Tivoli Enterprise Portal is installed.
  2. On the workstation, copy the file to drive:\IBM\ITM\CNPS, where drive is the drive on which you installed the Tivoli Enterprise Portal and IBM is the directory in which you installed it.
  3. On the workstation, open a DOS session.
  4. Change the directory in the DOS session to drive:\IBM\ITM\CNPS.
  5. At the prompt, enter the following command:
    KXEMIGR <options> input_file product <output> <control>
    The utility creates the file that contains the migrated profile, the control file, and the log, if any.
    The following table:
    • Lists the parameters available with the KXEMIGR command.
    • Indicates whether the parameter is required. Parameters with default values are optional.

      options No Specifies the following option.
      • To display diagnostic messages for the utility, specify -v.
      • To display help, specify -?.
      • To migrate predefined situations with the status of critical and exclude the migration of situations with a status of warning, specify -nw.
      input_file Yes Specifies the name of the file that you exported that contains the profile.
      product Yes Specifies the product code. The code for OMEGAMON for IMS on z/OS® is I5.
      output No Specifies the name of the file that contains the migrated profile. The default is KI5_UPD.SQL, where I5 is the 2 character product code for OMEGAMON on IMS on z/OS.
      control No Specifies the name of the product control file. The default is KI5PROD.txt.
  6. On the Start menu, select Programs > IBM Tivoli Monitoring > Manage Tivoli Monitoring Services. The Manage Tivoli® Monitoring Services dialog opens.
  7. From the Actions menu in the Manage Tivoli Monitoring Services Manage window, select Advanced > Add TEMS Application Support.
    The Add application data to Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server window opens.
  8. Specify the options that you want as follows:
    • For a Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server on your workstation, click this computer.
    • For a Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server installed on a different computer, click a different computer radio. On the Non-resident TEMS Connection window, specify the appropriate values and click OK.

      The program displays the Select the application support to add to the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server dialog box.

  9. Select Migration data for KI5 and click OK .

    Manage Tivoli Monitoring Services adds the application data to the Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server and displays the operation complete dialog box, which indicates whether support is added successfully.
