Creating the KIPGLB global definitions members

You use the KI2_I1nn_CLASSIC_GLOBAL parameter in PARMGEN to specify the suffix of a KIPGLB global definitions member to be used by an OMEGAMON® for IMS started task that monitors a specific IMS subsystem. You must create the KIPGLB global definitions members as part of your post-configuration steps.

In PARMGEN, you specify a set of KI2_I1nn rows to configure an OMEGAMON for IMS task for each IMS subsystem that is monitored in your runtime environment (RTE). One of the parameters for each monitored IMS is KI2_I1nn_CLASSIC_GLOBAL, which specifies the suffix of a KIPGLB global definitions member that the OMEGAMON for IMS started task loads during initialization. The KIPGLB global definitions member contains global parameters that define groups of transactions, PSBs, logical terminals (LTERMs), and classes that you want to monitor for the subsystem. It also controls operating characteristics for the Bottleneck Analysis and Response Time Analysis (RTA) components in the Realtime Monitor. You can use the same KIPGLB global definitions member for all of your monitored IMS subsystems, or can specify unique members.

If you set KI2_I1nn_CLASSIC_GLOBAL to a value of 99, then PARMGEN configures the OMEGAMON for IMS task to use member KIPGLB99, which is the default member that PARMGEN automatically creates. With any other value, you must run a post-configuration job to create the member and store it in the data set identified by GBL_DSN_GLOBAL_SOURCE_LIB. If you do not specify a value for KI2_I1nn_CLASSIC_GLOBAL, the default is the same value that is assigned to KI2_I1nn_CLASSIC_MPREFIX, such as M0. You still must run the post-configuration job to create the KIPGLB member.

PARMGEN provides sample JCL that you can run to create the KIPGLB members. You can customize the settings in the KIPGLB members that are created, but, initially, you might want to use the defaults while you set up your environment.
