Logging on with external security in VTAM, TSO, and ISPF modes

When you use the KOBVTAM logon screen to log on, the exit routine can cause OMEGAMON for IMS Classic to stop an unauthorized logon. Another advantage is that all security checks are based on the logon ID of the user and not on the authority of OMEGAMON for IMS Classic address space.

Procedure

  1. Log on through VTAM®, OMEGAMON for IMS Classic
A logon panel for the OMEGAMON for IMS Classic VTAM application program (KOBVTAM) displays. The same VTAM logon panel also displays for ISPF and TSO modes because OMEGAMON for IMS Classic also uses the OMEGAMON for IMS Classic VTAM application program for these modes.

The copyright screen that displays at logon time comprises more fields for user ID, Password, Group, and New Password.

  2. If you are in an active VTAM session and you want to alter the external security level of authorization, use the relogon feature.
Important: Passphrase support for the OMEGAMON 3270 Classic interface requires APAR OA57133 (PTF UA98944) and APAR OA57125 (PTF UA98947). When passphrase support is enabled, OMEGAMON implements the OMEGAMON 3270 Classic interface external security without the use of security exits. For more information, see OMEGAMON 3270 Classic interface security and How to: Configure passphrase and MFA support in the OMEGAMON 3270 Classic interface in OMEGAMON® shared documentation.
