Manually starting RTM in dedicated mode

The standard installation procedure automatically installs OMEGAMON for IMS Classic in dedicated mode. When you use PARMGEN to configure OMEGAMON for IMS Classic, you can also manually specify that you want a dedicated session to start automatically when you start OMEGAMON for IMS Classic.

Before you begin

Make sure that OMEGAMON for IMS Classic is installed.

About this task

In dedicated mode, OMEGAMON for IMS Classic:
  • Is connected to one or, optionally, two dedicated consoles, each of which is a local, non-SNA device.
  • Minimizes down time (the highest OMEGAMON for IMS Classic availability).
  • Uses no telecommunications access methods. OMEGAMON for IMS Classic communicates with the terminal by issuing an EXCP command. By operating this way, OMEGAMON for IMS Classic can report hardware and software problems so severe that they disable other mechanisms, including MVS™ system consoles.
  • Refreshes the screen automatically every few seconds without operator intervention. The default refresh cycle is 5 seconds. You can use the SET command to change this interval according to your reporting requirements.
For more information, see the PARMGEN online help.

Procedure

    START ccccccc

where cccccccc is the started task name that you specified for OMEGAMON for IMS Classic by using PARMGEN.
