Streaming performance data with OMEGAMON Data Provider
For enhanced observability, stream OMEGAMON AI for Db2 Performance Database (PDB) data in real time using OMEGAMON® Data Provider.
OMEGAMON AI for Db2 6.1.0 extends the capabilities of OMEGAMON Data Provider to stream performance data from Db2 load files used by the Performance Database (PDB) without relying on an active OMEGAMON Db2 data collector. This standalone streaming functionality complements the existing collector-based streaming supported in earlier versions.
Prior to 6.1.0, OMEGAMON Data Provider requires a running OMEGAMON Db2 data collector to stream performance data in real time. With 6.1.0, OMEGAMON Data Provider can also stream PDB data directly from Db2 load files, enabling data access without the need for the collector to be active.
This enhanced streaming capability simplifies data access by delivering performance data directly from the Db2 PDB to external analytics and monitoring platforms. OMEGAMON Data Provider can filter and transform performance data as it streams. This allows seamless integration with popular visualization tools like Grafana and observability platforms such as Instana.
For example, instead of waiting for batch reports or relying solely on a continuously running collector, you can now view up-to-the-minute performance metrics in Grafana dashboards. This real-time insight helps identify performance issues faster and supports comprehensive monitoring across systems.
Because the standalone streaming mode operates without a constantly active data collector, it reduces system complexity and resource use.
To use this feature, configure OMEGAMON Data Provider with filters and endpoints suited for your monitoring environment. This flexibility enables tailored data streams, targeted alerts, and extended analytic capabilities. For more information, see IBM Z OMEGAMON Data Provider.
