Configuring Object Volume Analysis
The Object Volume Analysis function reveals the effect of an application on overall disk access. This can help you balance the load and determine where Db2 data sets should be placed to reduce system congestion.
Procedure
Set parameter KD2_PFxx_OA_ECM to Y, which
enables the base event collection needed to collect Object volume related information.
You can configure the following additional configuration parameters for Object
Analysis:
- KD2_PF01_OA_WAIT
- KD2_PF01_OA_START
- KD2_PF01_OA_THREAD
- KD2_PF01_OA_INTV
Note: Do not set KD2_PF01_OA_START to Y unless your
system has sufficient CPU space. If not, use the real-time control options to
activate Object Analysis collection as needed. For more information, see Evaluating the cost of Object Analysis.
