Migration considerations for Classic Near-Term History and Enhanced 3270 Thread History in 5.5.0 (OA66051)

With APAR OA66051, the following parameter changes are introduced to simplify migration when you upgrade to 5.5.0 from 5.4.0 and earlier versions.

The number of Classic Near-Term History VSAM data sets in 5.5.0 is specified exclusively by parameter KD2_PFnn_HIS_LOG_NUM. The parameters KD2_PF_HIS_LOG<i> are deprecated and will be ignored. Parameters KD2_PFnn_HIS_VSAM_SU and KD2_PFnn_HIS_VSAM_MB are reused accordingly to define the size of an individual VSAM data set.

The following parameters can be reused from a 5.4.0 configuration as per the WCONFIG PARMGEN member or the respective RTEDEF Configuration Manager member if the new parameter KD2_PFnn_HIS_VSAM_PREFIX is set to "VS" (default is "V"):
  • KD2_PFnn_HIS_VSAM_SCLAS<i>, i = 1...7
  • KD2_PFnn_HIS_VSAM_MCLAS<i>, i = 1...7
  • KD2_PFnn_HIS_VSAM_VOLUME<i>, i = 1...7
If you want to migrate 5.4.0 Classic Near-Term History configurations that used a number of VSAM data sets larger than 7, the use of embed overrides is no longer supported. Instead, specify the following parameters in the existing PARMGEN WCONFIG member or the respective Configuration Manager RTEDEF member, along with the new parameters KD2_PFnn_HIS_VSAM_PREFIX (set to "VS", see above) and KD2_PFnn_HIS_VSAM_CUSTOMIZE (set to "Y"):
  • KD2_PFnn_HIS_VSAM_SCLAS<i>, i = 7...768
  • KD2_PFnn_HIS_VSAM_MCLAS<i>, i = 7...768
  • KD2_PFnn_HIS_VSAM_VOLUME<i>, i = 7...768
