Masking data (optional)
You can use IBM® Optim Data Privacy for z/OS to mask sensitive data as part of provisioning data.
Data masking is a security process that hides or obscures sensitive information by replacing it with realistic but fictitious data, ensuring it remains usable for testing, development, or analytics without exposing the original content.
Masking ensures that personally identifiable information (PII), and other confidential data are transformed while preserving data integrity and usability for testing, development, and analytics.
Masking is performed as part of the test data provisioning workflow and can be applied to data subsets extracted from supported source systems. The masking engine uses context-aware techniques to maintain referential and format integrity, providing realistic and compliant data.
Masking is an optional step. You do not need to mask your data if it does not contain personally identifiable information or other confidential data.
