Upgrading Rule Designer
You upgrade Rule Designer.
Before you begin
While you are upgrading Rule Designer, assets for the previous version and the target version, including RuleApps and rulesets, can coexist in the Rule Execution Server. However, these assets must be regenerated and upgraded to the target version to complete the rolling upgrade.
Prerequisites for this task:
- You must use decision service projects and the decision engine.
- Back up the data from the previous version of Rule Designer.
- Install Eclipse 4.38 and JDK 21.
- Install the Rule Designer of the target version.
Procedure
-
Import the rule projects in the previous version to the Rule Designer of the target
version.
You must also import Java™ XOM projects.
- Build the rule projects.
- Synchronize the migrated rule projects with the Decision Center of the target version.
- Redeploy the rule artifacts from the Decision Center or Rule Designer of the target version to the Rule Execution Server console of the target version, and the Rule Execution Server database.
Results

- Rule Designer is now at the target version. If you have multiple Rule Designers on the platform, all of them are now at the target version.
- RuleApps and rulesets that are deployed in Rule Execution Server and zRule Execution Server for z/OS® are at the target version after regeneration from their corresponding rule projects or decision service projects.
All the Operational Decision Manager runtime components and tools are now at the target version.
