Task 6: Changing cell formats

You change the formatting in the Coverages decision table by adding the dollar sign ($) to the Surcharge column currency values, and by changing the color of the values to red.

About this task

You change the format of the decision table.

Procedure

  1. In the Coverages decision table, right-click the Surcharge column header, and then click Format column.
  2. In the Format field, click next to the value {0}, and then type a dollar sign, so that you have: ${0}.

The zero in curly brackets is the default format statement that represents the contents of the cell. When you add the dollar sign, it is displayed as a prefix to the value displayed in the cell.

You can also select a predefined format from the Predefined formats list. For example, select {0,number,#.##%} to display the contents of a cell as a percentage value. You can apply this formatting either globally throughout a column or only at the cell level.

  3. Click OK. A dollar sign is displayed next to each value in the Surcharge cells.

Results

Each value in the Surcharge column now has a dollar sign.

What to do next

In the next task, you run the decision table.
