Guidelines for PL/I XOM generation

Before you generate a XOM from a PL/I include file, PL/I data types are mapped to Java™ types.

Data structures in the PL/I include file
A PL/I include file to be used for generating a XOM must contain only data structures that can map to Java structures.
PL/I to Java mapping
When you generate a XOM from a PL/I include file, the PL/I types are mapped to default Java types.
%INCLUDE statements in the include file
You can base your XOM on a PL/I include file that contains %INCLUDE statements or refers to other include files that contain %INCLUDE statements.
PL/I data item mapping to Java structures
PL/I data items map to different Java structures depending on the level of the data item and the level at which it is defined.
Array mapping between PL/I and Java
The PL/I array type is mapped to a Java array by default.
BIT string mapping from PL/I to Java
The PL/I BIT string type is mapped to the boolean type or the BitSet class in Java, depending on the length of the bit.
UNION statements in the PL/I include file
When you generate a XOM from a PL/I include file, a UNION statement generates a Java type mapping for each data item that is associated with the UNION statement, but you can use only one of them in the XOM.
