AI integration

Operational Decision Manager offers different options for integrating AI with decision services: ODM MCP Servers, ODM AI Toolkit for IBM Bob, IBM Watson Machine Learning for ODM, and IBM Decision Intelligence.

Integration with AI agents

MCP servers
The decision and management MCP servers bridge the gap between Operational Decision Manager and AI agents and orchestration platforms. You can expose REST APIs as tools for the agents, and integrate with watsonx Orchestrate, Claude Desktop, IBM Bob, and other AI services.

Development

IBM ODM AI Toolkit for IBM Bob
The ODM AI Toolkit for IBM Bob acts as an expert rule developer for Rule Designer. Describe your business rules in a natural language, and the AI service generates the following files:
  • Complete XOM (Java domain model)
  • Business Object Model (BOM) with natural language vocabulary
  • Business rules in the Business Action Language (BAL)
  • Ruleflow orchestration
  • Deployment configuration
The projects you create in this mode are fully compatible with Rule Designer.

IBM Watson Machine Learning for ODM

Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence that enables computers to mimic the way humans learn to perform tasks autonomously and improve their performance and accuracy with new data. IBM Watson Machine Learning for ODM extracts key characteristics, patterns, and anomalies from your historical data to create predictive models. By integrating these models into decision services through Rule Designer, you get predictive insights that can be transformed into actions and business decisions.

To learn more, see Machine Learning integration for information about integrating predictive models into decision services.

IBM Decision Intelligence

A separate product offering, IBM Decision Intelligence turns business policies into AI-authored decision solutions for use in applications. You define decision services in the Decision Assistant, the chat-based editor in Decision Intelligence. Then, you download the solutions for use in Decision Center, where you develop them further in the Business console.
