Using the Eclipse tools to create Insight Pack artifacts

After you have installed Log Analysis Insight® Pack Tooling, you can then create the artifacts that form your Insight Pack.

Insight Pack project structure
When you create an Insight Pack project, Eclipse creates a directory structure to contain system and project files.
Completing the project Overview tab
The Overview tab sets the project name, the project version, and the version of IBM Operations Analytics Log Analysis to which the Insight Pack applies.

Create an Eclipse project in which to build your Insight Pack.
Importing an Insight Pack
Import an existing Insight Pack into the Eclipse workspace.
Editing the index configuration
Edit the basic metadata and add the indexing fields that comprise the index configuration for a project.
Changing the index configuration field order
You can change the order of the fields in the index configuration to display the fields in the same order in the IBM Operations Analytics Log Analysis search page grid view.
Creating index configurations from an imported JSON file
You can create index configuration instance by importing a JSON file that contains index configuration instances. The JSON file can contain array of index configuration instances or a single index configuration string.
Creating File Sets
You can display existing File Sets and create new ones in the Insight Pack editor.
Creating Rule Sets
You can display existing Rule Sets and create new ones in the Insight Pack editor.
Creating Source Types
Source Types define how a particular kind of data is split, annotated, and indexed so that it can be searched using IBM Operations Analytics Log Analysis. You must create a Source Type before you can create a Data Source.
Creating Collections
Collections group together data from different Data Sources that have the same Source Type. For example, you might want to assign all the Data Sources for a WAS cluster into a single Collection so that you can search them as a group.
Creating Log Samples
You can map the Log Sample files with the Source Types in the Eclipse tooling.
Creating HTML advice pages for Insight Packs
You can use this optional feature to include static HTML expert advice pages for your Insight Packs.
