This matrix contains alerts, news, and documentation for the Windows® Host Utilities 6.0.2 release used with IBM® System Storage™ N series storage systems.
ALERTS
- Requirement for installation of N series Host Utilities
ATTENTION:
- Windows Host Utilities 6.0.2 release include several new features and support for additional configurations. This release of the Windows Host Utilities continues the combined support for both iSCSI and Fibre Channel (FC) protocols; supporting mixed iSCSI and FC connections to the same LUN when the Data ONTAP DSM for Windows MPIO software is also installed.
- If you upgrade to the Data ONTAP DSM 3.5 for Windows MPIO or later releases, the Windows Host Utilities do not need to be installed separately because all of the components and functions of the Windows Host Utilities are contained in these Data ONTAP DSM releases.
- If you are upgrading a host from Windows Server 2008 to Server 2008 R2, you must upgrade to Windows Host Utilities 5.2 (and Data ONTAP DSM 3.3.1 for Windows MPIO if running the Data ONTAP DSM) before upgrading to Server 2008 R2 (unless you are upgrading to Data ONTAP DSM 3.5 for Windows MPIO, then Windows Host Utilities do not need to be installed as previously noted).
- New features of the 6.0.2 release include:
- The Windows Host Utilities 6.0.2 installer enables SCSI UNMAP on Windows Server 2012 or later.
- Refer to the Release Notes for further details about these features and any limitations.
- Various Windows cluster changes that are made after installing the Windows Host Utilities require the Repair option of the Host Utilities installation program to be run to ensure the supported values are set in the registry. In some of these scenarios, the Repair option of the DSM installation program should be used instead when the Data ONTAP DSM for Windows MPIO is installed. If you remove the Windows Host Utilities, you can restore the DSM registry settings by running the Repair option of the DSM installation program. Refer to the Installation and Setup Guide for the details.
