Data ONTAP DSM 3.5 for Windows MPIO Publication Matrix

This matrix contains alerts, news, and documentation for the Data ONTAP DSM 3.5 for Windows MPIO Publication Matrix release used with IBM® System Storage™ N series storage systems.

ALERTS

• The Data ONTAP Device Specific Module (DSM) for Windows Multipath I/O (MPIO) supports Windows Server host machines running SnapDrive® for Windows attached to N series storage systems running Data ONTAP and are licensed to use the DSM with Fibre Channel (FC) and iSCSI paths.
• You can have one or more active paths and zero or more passive paths, depending on the load balancing policy. The DSM automatically selects paths for I/O as needed, maximizing throughput and maintaining the host's access to its storage.
• Use with Windows Server 2003 and 2008 hosts.
• Starting with this release, the Windows Host Utilities are no longer required to be installed because its components for configuring Hyper-V systems are now included with the installation of the Data ONTAP DSM.
• A MPIO license key is required for each Windows host.

The Data ONTAP DSM for Windows MPIO software is obtained from software packages available for download using the "Software Packages ...." link from the Download page of the N series support website. Refer to the important information for N series support for step-by-step instructions explaining how to access software packages as part of the complete instructions for entitlement and registration. When following the step-by-step instructions, select the Data ONTAP DSM for Windows MPIO software package from the N series and related Host Software Downloads - Pick page. Download the files for the version of the Data ONTAP DSM for Windows MPIO and hardware platform required and install them using the installation instructions found in the Installation and Administration Guide.
