Managing IP allow lists

An IP allow list specifies the trusted IP addresses or CIDR ranges from which an account user can access your IBM® NS1 Connect® account.

You can apply an IP allow list to an individual user or API key, to a team of users and keys, or globally to apply to all account users.

Note: To create or modify IP allow lists for your NS1 Connect account, you must have permissions to manage the IP allow list.

Create a global IP allow list

By default, this list is applied to all users and teams that are associated with your account.

  1. Click the User Settings icon and select Security settings.
  2. Click the Global IP allow lists tab.
  3. Click Create IP allow list.
  4. Enter a name for the IP allow list for internal reference.
  5. Enter an IP address or CIDR and click Add. Repeat this step to add more IP addresses or CIDR ranges.
  6. Click Save IP allow list.

If your current IP address is not included in the global IP allow list that you configured, you are prompted to include it or apply it to your individual account settings.

Create an IP allow list for a single user or API key

You can apply an IP allow list to an individual user or API key within the user/key settings.

  1. Click the User Settings icon and select User & teams.
  2. Click the Users or API keys tab.
  3. Next to the user or API key that you want to edit, click the Options menu and select Edit [User] [API key].
  4. Under Manage IP allow list for this user, enter an IP address or CIDR and click Add. Repeat this step to add more IP addresses or CIDR ranges.
  5. Optionally, select the Apply this IP allow list exclusively check box to ignore any global or team allow lists for this user or API key.
  6. Click Save [user] [API key].

Create an IP allow list for a team

Similarly to applying an IP allow list to an individual user or API key, you can apply an IP allow list to a team.

  1. Click the User Settings icon and select User & teams.
  2. Click the Teams tab.
  3. Next to the team that you want to edit, click the Manage team icon.
  4. In Allow list name, enter a name for the IP allow list to apply to this team.
  5. Enter an IP address or CIDR and click Add. Repeat this step to add more IP addresses or CIDR ranges.
  6. Click Save team.
