Force a monitoring job status up or down

You can change the up/down status of a monitoring job manually within the monitor settings. The forced status is reflected in any answer metadata being updated by this monitoring job where it can be used to prevent or allow traffic to the monitored endpoint.

Before you begin

  • You must have the Edit monitoring jobs permission enabled.
  • You must have the Manage data feeds permission enabled.
  • You must pause the monitoring job to prevent future probes from reverting the manual status change.

About this task

Forcing an up or down status does not change the status of the monitoring job itself. Instead, it changes the status of the data feed associated with the monitoring job.

Procedure

  1. Click Monitors.
  2. On the Monitoring page, locate the monitor that you want to force up or down.
You can use the filter options to narrow the search results by the monitoring job name or by the type of monitoring job.
  3. Click the overflow menu and select Edit.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To force the status of a monitoring job to up, click the Up button.
    • To force the status of a monitoring job to down, click the Down button.
  5. Click Save changes.
