Notifiers

A notifier represents the stakeholders and systems that IBM® NS1 Connect® sends alerts to and through which notification channel (email, Slack, PagerDuty, webhook, data feed).

Notifiers are defined within a notifier list, which is then attached to an alert or a monitoring job. You create, edit, or delete a notifier only through a notifier list. The same notifier can be used in multiple notifier lists. NS1 Connect supports the following notifier types:

Notifier type Details
Data feed For a monitoring job to automatically update the up/down metadata of its connected answer(s), you must attach a notifier list containing the data feed notifier.
Attention: Failure to include the data feed notifier in your notifier list prevents monitoring jobs that use this notifier list from updating answer metadata and breaking automatic failover configurations.
Email You can enter the address of a stakeholder to send them an alert through email.
Slack You can enter a Slackbot username and a webhook URL that NS1 Connect Slack uses to send notifications to a Slack channel or user. Refer to Configuring a Slack notifier.
PagerDuty You can enter a valid PagerDuty API key that NS1 Connect uses to send notifications through PagerDuty. Refer to Configuring a PagerDuty notifier
Webhook You can configure a custom webhook notifier to send alerts in the form of POST requests to a preferred monitoring service using a webhook URL. Refer to Configuring a custom webhook notifier.
