What's new

Netcool® Operations Insight® 1.6.7 includes a range of new features and functions.

New product features and functions in version 1.6.7

Netcool Operations Insight on OpenShift® 1.6.7 provides event management capabilities in IBM Cloud Pak® for Watson™ AIOps 3.6.0.

New features in version 1.6.7
The following features and functions are available in the Netcool Operations Insight 1.6.7 product:
Cloud native analytics historical event reduction
Cloud native analytics historical event reduction is enabled by default in this release. Cloud native analytics historical event reduction significantly reduces the event rate and addresses Cassandra storage issues. To avoid issues with event reduction, install the interim fix. For more information, see Installing the interim fix.
MinIO
MinIO support for enterprise scaling. For more information, see Training on metric data.
Disable supergrouping
You can remove a supergroup for multiple groups that have a common event. For more information, see Removing supergroups.
Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS)
Netcool Operations Insight uses cryptographic modules that are compliant with Level 1 of the Federal Information Processing Standard FIPS-140-2. Certificates that are used internally are encrypted by using FIPS-approved cryptography algorithms. FIPS-approved modules can optionally be used for the transmission of data. For more information, see Enabling FIPS support.
Seasonal anomaly detection
Administrators can create a condition for what action to take for seasonal event anomalies, when an event does not occur in the expected time window. For more information, see step 10 in Editing policies. To avoid issues with seasonal anomaly detection, install the interim fix. For more information, see Installing the seasonal anomaly detection interim fix.
Edit Seasonal enrichment policies from within the policy
You can edit a policy from the Alert viewer for events with Seasonal enrichment. To edit a policy, click Edit Policy in Seasonality Details page. For more information, see step 4 in Displaying alert seasonality.
Sizing updates
Custom sizes are provided, but are not currently supported at install time. If you have requirements for a custom sizing install, contact your local support team. For more information, see the following topics:
Topology updates

Several topology updates are included with Netcool Operations Insight on OpenShift. For more information, see the What's new in Version 1.1.16 external icon topic in the IBM Agile Service Manager documentation.

Runbook Automation
  • Nested runbooks.
    • Runbooks can now contain a new type of step: Nested runbook steps.
    • A nested runbook step reuses an existing runbook asset and adds it to the outer runbooks, similar to adding an automated step.
    • Create powerful runbooks by reusing your existing runbooks as building blocks.
    • Automatically all runbooks using nested runbook steps inherit the updates of referenced runbooks.
    • The same features from automation parameter mappings are also available for nested runbook parameters.
  • Managing runbooks in GitHub.
    • In addition to managing runbooks within the application, you can now maintain runbooks in a GitHub repository.
    • Use GitHub based runbooks just like other runbooks, but manage the runbook lifecycle using the features of the GitHub repository.
    • Use GitHub runbooks in different installations and use your GitOps workflows on the shared set of runbooks.
  • Miscellaneous UI improvements and fixes.
  • Security fixes.
