Integrating with AI Manager

Learn how to integrate Netcool® Operations Insight® on Red Hat® OpenShift® with IBM® Cloud Pak for Watson™ AIOps AI Manager.

In this scenario, AI Manager and a fully containerized or hybrid Event Manager are both installed, and are connected by the Netcool connector. The connector enables a uni-directional flow of events from Event Manager to AI Manager. The Event Manager deployment can be fully containerized on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, or can be a hybrid deployment.
Note: This deployment scenario is not recommended. This scenario should be used only when you need to bridge events from Event Manager to AI Manager, such as you require data from Netcool/OMNIbus Integrations for IBM® Cloud Event Management, Prometheus, Kafka, or Pulsar in your AI Manager deployment. In this scenario, the Netcool connector enables the flow of data from Netcool/OMNIbus Integrations into Event Manager and then onwards to AI Manager.
Note: Netcool probes are still supported in an AI Manager only deployment without Event Manager. For more information, see Probes and probe integrations external icon in the Netcool/OMNIbus Integrations documentation.

To integrate Event Manager with AI Manager, use the Netcool connector. For more information, see Creating Netcool/OMNIbus connections.

Restrictions
  • Event Manager and AI Manager must be installed in separate projects (namespaces).
  • Event Manager and AI Manager do not share a user interface. Some data can be surfaced in different ways within each user interface. Use the IBM Cloud Pak Automation console to view data and complete tasks.
  • A topology service is installed by Event Manager and by AI Manager, and so two topologies are created. To maintain synchronicity between the topologies, the same topology observers must be configured in Event Manager and in AI Manager. As each topology (and user interface) is separate, topologies can surface different resources and status, even with the same observers configured. As such, use only AI Manager for viewing and managing topologies.
Note: After you install and connect AI Manager and Event Manager, use only AI Manager to view data and complete tasks. Event Manager in this scenario is used for gathering and passing data to AI Manager.
