Displaying alert topology

If the resource on which an alert occurred can be located in the network topology system, then a large dot Big dot icon is presented in the alert's Topology column. Click the large dot Big dot icon to display a topology map for this alert, centered on the resource on which the alert occurred.

Procedure

  1. Identify alerts that have an associated resource in the network topology.
    • Flat alerts that is, alerts that are not part of an alert group, that have an associated resource in the network topology, have a large dot Big dot icon immediately visible in their Topology column.
    • Alerts that are part of an alert group, that have an associated resource in the network topology also have a large dot Big dot icon in their Topology column, but you must first open the alert group in order to see the alert. Open an alert group by clicking the Down chevron icon Downward-pointing chevron icon on the parent alert group row.
  2. Click the large dot Big dot icon in the Topology column for the alert of interest.
    A side panel that contains multiple information sections opens in the table. The Topology section is open.
    The Topology section provides the following information:
    Resource
    Name of the resource on which the alert of interest occurred.
    Begin time
    Date and time when the topology for this resource was last updated.
    Observed time
    Date and time when the alert of interest was observed on this resource.
    Topology pane
    Contains showing a topology map for this alert, centered on the resource on which the alert occurred.
  3. If you have sufficient user permissions, then you can investigate the topology further.
    1. Click the More information link at the end of the side panel's Topology section.
      This action launches out to the topology management service in a separate browser tab, which displays the same topology map, with the full topology display experience.     2. Click the Alerts breadcrumb to return to the Alerts page.
