Creating incidents
You can manually create Netcool® Operations Insight® incidents from one or more alerts.
Creating a new incident
If you believe that multiple alerts form part of a single real-life incident, then you can create a new Netcool Operations Insight incident based on those alerts.
- In the Alerts page,
select one or more alerts that are not part of an existing incident.
A side panel that contains multiple information sections opens in the table. The first section is called the Actions section and displays a set of actions that can be performed on the selected alert.
- In the Actions section, click Create new incident.
- Type a textual description of the incident.
- Assign an incident priority from 1 to 5. The default setting is 5.Note: The smaller the number of the priority value, the more serious the incident. Check with your Operations team lead which priority value you should assign based on the seriousness of the incident.
- Click Run, to run the action, which in turn creates the incident.

Adding alerts to an existing incident
- In the Alerts page,
select one or more alerts that are not part of an existing incident.
A side panel that contains multiple information sections opens in the table. The first section is called the Actions section and displays a set of actions that can be performed on the selected alert.
- In the Actions section, click Add to incident.
- Click Select the incident these alerts should be added to and select an incident.
- Click Run, to run the action, which in turn adds the alert or alerts to
the incident.
