Running an automation

As an Operator or as a Service Delivery Engineer, you can run the latest published automation directly, without wrapping the automation into a runbook first. If the automation has never been published before, Service Delivery Engineers can also run the draft (although they would typically use Test automation instead, as the test page is more tightly integrated with Edit automation and generally allows you to test the latest draft).

Procedure

  1. Click The navigation icon Navigation icon to go to the main navigation menu.
  2. In the main navigation menu, select Automations icon Automations and click Runbooks.
  3. Click Automations.
  4. Select an automation in the table to display the Preview side panel for that automation.
  5. Click Run automation at the bottom of the side panel to start the run procedure for the automation. Alternatively, click the options menu of the automation and click the Run option.
  6. Follow the instructions on the Run automation page.
  7. Verify the result of the automation.
  8. You can run the automation multiple times. Parameter values can be modified between runs of the automation.
  9. When you are finished running the automation, click Complete.
  10. In the Provide feedback section, you can provide a rating and a comment. This information is intended to be evaluated by administrators, so they can easily identify those automations that need to be improved, and understand what exactly needs to be improved.
  11. When you are finished with providing feedback, click Close.
