Topology database tasks

You can use the NCIM topology database to perform the tasks, such as extracting data topology using SQL queries, exporting data from the topology database to third-party applications, and including data from third-party sources and from customized discoveries by extending the database.

Use the NCIM topology database to perform the following tasks:

Extracting data: You can write SQL queries to extract topology data from NCIM. SQL queries can be made using ncp_oql as well as using third-party tools.
Integrating with third-party applications: You can export data from the topology database to third-party applications. In order to do this, you must understand the structure of the database.
Extending the database: You can extend the database to include data from third-party sources and from customized discoveries. For example, discovery stitchers may be configured to look up customer details from a third-party source based on IP address.
