Viewing the installation logs

Viewing the installation logs can be useful for troubleshooting purposes.

About this task

Information about the success of the installation process is recorded in IBM Installation Manager. To view the installation log information, proceed as follows. You can find more information in the IBM Installation Manager Knowledge Center at: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSDV2W/im_family_welcome.html.
Note: For general settings of the Network Manager installation, such as information about the version of Network Manager installed, the home location of components, and database connection information, see the NCHOME/etc/itnm.cfg file.

Procedure

  1. Review the installation history. In IBM Installation Manager click File > Installation History.
    1. In IBM Installation Manager click File > Installation History.
    2. Review the status of the installed packages.
      The Package Group Name column lists the installed packages, and the Status column lists the results of the installation of that package.
    3. Click View Log to view the log file for any selected package.
  2. You can also filter the various log files by event type. To do this, in IBM Installation Manager click File > View Log.
    You can filter information in the log files by the following event types:
    • Error
    • Warning
    • Note
    • Information
  3. If necessary, you can export a full set of log data for analysis by IBM®. To do this, in IBM Installation Manager click Help > Export Data for Problem Analysis.
