Monitoring collectors

You can use the Collector Service Status page to monitor the status of the collectors.

Before you begin

Before a user can see the status of collectors in the GUI, an administrator must first configure all active collectors to be managed by the ncp_ctrl process:

  1. Back up and edit the CtrlServices.cfg file.
  2. Locate the example inserts into the services.collectors and services.collectorArgs tables for the CSV collector.
  3. Copy these inserts and customize them for each of your active collectors that you want to see in the GUI. Refer to the services.collectors table and services.collectorArgs table topics for a description of these tables.

About this task

To monitor the collectors in the Collector Service Status page, complete the following steps.

Procedure

  1. Ensure that your user has the ncp_disco_status_process_control role in order to see the Collector Service Status page.
  2. Click the Discovery icon and select Network Discovery Status.
  3. Within Network Discovery Status, click the Collector Service Status tab.

The Collector Service Status table shows a list of the individual collectors, their status, and process ID.

Restriction: The collector status displayed in the table is not retrieved dynamically from the collectors. It is taken from the serviceState value set by the administrator in the services.collectors table.
