V4.2 FixPack 4:

Configuring IP SLA discoveries

Before you can monitor IP SLA agreements, you must configure and run an IP SLA discovery.

About this task

An IP SLA discovery associates supported IP SLA events with devices and links in the Network Manager topology. You can visualize probes that are configured to monitor IP SLA response times, and their source and destination devices, by using network views.

Procedure

  1. Install the Netcool/OMNIbus Knowledge Library version 4.8.1 or above.
  2. Configure the Netcool/OMNIbus Knowledge Library for use with the SNMP Probe.
This step allows event status to be associated with IP SLA Probes in the network topology.
  3. Enable the appropriate IP SLA agent.
This step allows IP SLA Probes to be discovered. For more information on the IP SLA agents available, see Service Level Agreement agents.
  4. Run a discovery.

What to do next

You can now monitor IP SLA response times by using the network views, Network Hop View, and Structure Browser. See Monitoring IP Service Level Agreement (IP SLA) configurations.
