Administering system passwords
In addition to user passwords, Network Manager uses a number of passwords internally and when interacting with the network.
About this task
All password encryption in Network Manager is performed using FIPS 140–2 compliant algorithms.
Restriction: All passwords on a given server must be encrypted with the same
conf.key file. The most robust way to set up SNMP and command-line access
passwords is by using the Discovery Configuration GUI. If
you copy any files containing encrypted passwords from one server to another, you must also copy the
conf.key file that was used to encrypt them, and you must ensure that all
passwords on the server are encrypted using that key. You can check the passwords used in discovery
by validating them using the Discovery Configuration GUI,
before running a discovery.
Restriction: All passwords used in Network Manager must conform to the password
policies of the server or system environment.
