ODBC, JDBC, and OLE DB provide functions that are related to the SQL CLI. The .NET Framework, which Microsoft developed, is a software development framework.

Installing and uninstalling the client tools software
The client tools software of the Netezza Performance Server system contains the ODBC drivers, the JDBC drivers, the OLE DB provider, the .NET Provider, and Go Driver that connect to a Netezza Performance Server system from a client system.
ODBC drivers and driver managers
The ODBC driver manager accepts ODBC API function calls from the application and passes them to an ODBC driver for processing. The driver manager also accepts results from the driver and passes them to the application. The driver interacts with the file system or database management system to access required data.

Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) is a Microsoft specification for an API that constitutes an implementation of the international standards for the SQL CLI.

The JDBC specification defines an API for the Java™ programming environment that Java programmers can use to access relational databases and issue SQL statements.
Installing and configuring the OLE DB provider
OLE DB is a higher-level replacement for ODBC that supports a wider variety of non-relational databases that do not necessarily implement SQL. This section describes the procedure for installing the OLE DB provider on a Windows client system, configuring the provider and data sources, and testing for connectivity to Netezza Performance Server system data sources.

Installing and validating the Go Driver
The nzgo package is a pure Go driver to be used along with database/sql package. The database/sql Go package provides a set of generic interfaces for SQL (or SQL-like) databases.

Unsupported JDBC methods
The methods in this appendix are included in Version 4.1 of the Oracle JDBC API specification. Although an application can call any of these methods, they are not supported by IBM Netezza Appliance or the JDBC driver, and an exception will be thrown.
Unsupported ADO.NET methods and properties
The .NET Provider is based on the ADO.NET 3.0 data provider specification. The Netezza Performance Server .NET Provider does not support certain methods and properties from that specification. If you try to use one of the unsupported methods or properties, an exception is thrown.
